Darcy Ann Kruse, 53, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. She was born Feb. 20, 1971, to Bill Lee and Sue Ann (Vinzant) Huston, in St. Joseph.

Darcy married David Allen Kruse on June 26, 1993.

Darcy’s academic achievements led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology science at Missouri Western State University. As a respiratory therapist at St. Joseph Hospital, she cared for her patients with compassion before deciding to devote her time to her most cherished role as a stay-at-home mom.

A member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Darcy enjoyed not only fostering friendships and uplifting others, but also engaging in her passions for boating and cooking. She was well-loved for her ability to bring joy to any gathering, often referred to as the “fun mom” for her participative spirit at her children’s sporting events and her natural role as the life of the party. She loved her friends, whom she called sisters from other mothers.

She was preceded in death by her mother; grandparents, Charles and Lorene Vinzant and Raymond and Eva Huston.

Survivors include her father; and husband; children, Hannah VanCleave (Court), Hayley Kruse (Zach), and Jackson Kruse; grandchildren, Parker VanCleave and another one on the way; siblings, Doug Huston (Pam) and Dan Huston (Heather), and Jacob Huston (Sidney); nieces, Audrey Huston and Wren Huston; aunt, Judy Everly (Bob); brother-in-law, Larry Kruse (Amy); cousins, Amy and David Buck; mother and father-in-law, Paul and Carolyn Kruse.

Farewell Services 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, Southern Roots Event Center. Celebration of Life to follow from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Joseph.
