S. Louise Potter, 91, of St Joseph, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at a Savannah, Missouri, health care facility. She was born Feb. 9, 1933, in St. Joseph, daughter of Sylvia and Jesse Boles. She graduated from Savannah High School, class of 1953. On Aug. 16, 1951, she married Clinton Potter. Alongside her husband Clinton, they co-owned Potter’s Gun Shop where they made many lifelong friends. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing and traveling. She was a wonderful seamstress and taught sewing classes with 4-H.

Louise was very involved with her church, Green Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed dedicating her time in the church kitchen.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton Potter in 2020; brothers, Vernon Boles, Melvin Boles and Gary Boles; sister, Opal Hart; and son-in-law, Bobby Trump.

Survivors include children, Keith (Ellen) Potter, of Clarksdale, Missouri, Kenny (Mieka) Potter, of Savannah, Karl Potter, of St. Joseph, Kirk (Roxie) Potter, of St. Joseph, Lori (Ray) Walker, of St. Joseph, Lisa Trump, of St. Joseph; sisters, Dora Howard, of St. Joseph, Ilene Brandt, of Agency, Missouri, Elvanna (Gorman) West, of Savannah, and Jean (Gaylen) Pearson, of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at the Rupp Funeral Home with Pastor David Mason officiating. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. Ms. Potter will be cremated following services. Memorials are requested to the Abundant Acres Care and Rehab Facility.
