Alma L. “Billie” (Crowley) Caldwell, 93, St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025. She was born Sept. 4, 1931, to William R. and Esther L. (DeJaynes) Crowley, in Glasgow, Missouri.

Billie married William “Leroy” Caldwell on April 21, 1956. They were married 67 years before he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2023.

Billie graduated from Mound City, Missouri, High school. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She had worked at Green Hills for 22 years as a checker/bookkeeper and was the owner of Nortys Bar and Grill for 20-plus years.

Billie loved dancing, quilting and traveling. Her family always requested her fried chicken and German potato salad. She loved entertaining her friends and playing cards with family. She was a caregiver to all of those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy; son, Ricky Caldwell; and brothers, Robert, Johnny, Wayne and Jack Crowley.

Survivors include her children, Vickie Kanatzar and Steve Kanatzar (Jodi); grandchildren, Brandon Kanatzar (Jalaina), Nicole Montgomery (Michael), Deana Lee (Joe), Brooke Cortez (Robert), and Gabrielle Caldwell; 13 great grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Virginia, Sharon, and Randy; and sister-in-law, Doris Culver.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contributions to Wesley United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
