Doris passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. Doris was born May 22, 1933, to Flora and Herman Eyman.

Doris graduated from Lafayett High School and completed her education at Platt Secretarial School. She worked in the advertising department at St. Joseph News Press and went on to retire from Farmland Industries as their receptionist in the front office on Lower Lake Rd.

Doris loved to travel and she and her husband Dale became winter Texans. There she taught water aerobics and enjoyed trips to Mexico and shopping in the outlet malls. When the couple were in Missouri they enjoyed traveling to Branson and watching the shows.

Doris loved to host family events and celebrate the people she loved. She was beautiful both inside and out and was well known for her warm hugs and beautiful smile.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Whicker; and son, Steven Guthery; grandchildren, include Jessica and Steve Gillett, Brett Guthery and Kelley Guthery; and great-grandchildren, Zach Gillett, Hazel, Cecily, and Madilynn Millie Guthery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Weston, in 2014; and grandson, Jason Guthery, 2023.

Celebration of Life service will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel Dec. 30, 2024, at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel. The service will be officiated by Pastor David Long.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Doris had a deep love for children and therefore the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
