Joyce Elaine Gastineau, 82, St. Joseph, formerly of Hamilton, Missouri, passed away on Dec. 14, 2024, in St. Joseph. Elaine previously also lived in Gallatin, Missouri, and she grew up in Breckenridge, Missouri, where she graduated from high school.
Elaine was born on July 15, 1942, in Ray County, Missouri, to William O. “Bill” and Waneta (Floyd) Hill.
Elaine had been employed as a deputy recorder for the Caldwell County, Missouri, Recorder of Deeds Office in Kingston, Missouri, prior to moving to St. Joseph. She also worked for American Family Insurance and she and her husband owned the Koffee Kup Cafe, in Gallatin, for a number of years. In her spare time she loved to sew.
She was a member of the Hamilton Methodist Church, Hamilton, and the Huffman United Methodist Church, in St. Joseph.
On Jan. 23, 1960, she married Ron D. Gastineau. He preceded her in death in 2009. Elaine was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Don Hill; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra K. Gastineau.
Survivors who will miss her very much include: daughter, Tambila Gastineau, Idaho; son, Terry (Noreen) Gastineau, St. Joseph; four grandchildren, Raymond Gastineau, St. Joseph, Aaron (Diane) Gastineau, St. Joseph, Anastasia (Jason) Scott, Falls City, Nebraska, and Adrianna Kerns, St. Joseph; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and David Gastineau; and numerous cousins.
Graveside Service & Interment: 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at the Lake Viking Cemetery, Gallatin. Visitation: 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mosaic Hospice, St. Joseph.
