DEKALB, Mo. – Douglas “Doug” Mehrer, 61, of DeKalb, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, in a Kansas City health care center. He was born Aug. 23, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from East High School, in Iowa, and worked at Burlington Northern as a Conductor for over 25 years. He was a huge Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan, and enjoyed fishing.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Halverson; and grandson, Braxton Meyer.
He is survived by daughters, Makayla R. (Zack) Meyer, Dearborn, Missouri, and Sammie Rogers, Kansas City, Missouri; former spouse, Bridget Mehrer, of De Kalb; grandchildren, Reagan Shelton, Tatum Laughlin, and Emmitt Meyer; great-granddaughter, Huntley Bates; and his brother, Ron Mehrer, of Omaha, Nebraska.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home. He will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. The Inurnment will be at a later date at the Westlawn Cemetery, DeKalb.
