ROLAND, Iowa – Marilyn Ruth Nichols, 81, of Roland, Iowa, passed away on Dec. 4, 2024, at Rolling Green Village, in Nevada. Graveside services will be Saturday Dec. 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Roland Cemetery.
Marilyn was born on April 2, 1943, in Sedalia, Missouri, to James E. and Dorothy Rachel (Hall) Michael. She graduated in 1961 from Smith Cotton High School, in Sedalia. She married Charles Nichols on July 26, 1964, in Sedalia. They were members of Patee Park Baptist Church, in St. Joseph, and moved to Roland in 1997.
Marilyn enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, doing word search puzzles, cooking, sewing, her dogs and going to car shows with Charles. She was a former Sunday School teacher and did home daycare while raising her four kids.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Charles, of Roland; her four children, Michael Nichols, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Michelle Pritchard, of St. Joseph, Brian Nichols, of Roland, and Melody Nichols, of Ames, Iowa; her three grandchildren, Baeleigh, Jackson and Colton; and her sister, Carolyn Michael, of Sedalia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Robert Michael.
The family requests any memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
