By NewsPress Now
My name is Nellie M. Shipman. I was called to Heaven Nov. 19, 2024, by my maker. I was born May 3, 1925, the sixth of seven children, to Roy and Maggie Rullman in the family home near Wathena, Kansas. In 1944 I married the love of my life, Donald E. Shipman. We raised three children, Donald Jr., Dyanne and Ronald.
In 1942 I graduated Benton High School in St. Joseph. I was a member of the Alpha Aletha Club for 83 years.
I was a lifelong fan of the Missouri Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. My most memorable times included: Don driving me through 49 of our 50 states; our trips to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans and the Orange Bowl in Miami to watch Missouri; the monthly “Club” meetings; and the “laugh-ins” with my sisters.
I was preceded in death by my parents; my husband, Don; my daughter, Dyanne; my grandson, James; all my siblings and their spouses.
I leave behind my sons, Bud (JoAnn) and Ron (Rosemary): grandsons, Donald III, Russell and Rick Shipman, Rob Rogers, and their wives; granddaughter, Angela Obani and her husband; great- grandsons, Hunter Douglas, Sawyer Shipman, Paxton James Andrew Shipman; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Henry, Samantha Greene, and Madolynn Duffield and their spouses; great-great- granddaughter, Avery Marie Henry and great-great-grandson, Preston James Henry; numerous nephews and nieces and their families.
