CAMERON, Mo. – E. Maxine Thompson, 96, of Cameron, Missouri, passed away Nov. 7, 2024. Maxine was born to Thelma (Potter) and Chester Curtis on the farm south of Cameron. They moved to Cameron in 1931. She was a 1946 graduate of Cameron High School.

Maxine attended Baker University, San Francisco State University earning her BA and Masters degree in teaching and reading specialist credentials. She taught for many years in California. Maxine filled her retirement years volunteering for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, delivered meals-on wheels for Cameron Nutrition Site, tutoring students at Cameron Middle School, teaching Sunday School and the Cameron Veterans Home. She was a Century Society member (150 donations) of the Community Blood Center.

She is survived by sons, Lorin, Max, Curtis and Otis.

Maxine Bequeathed her body to science to continue teaching.

Memorials my be made to Cameron Public Library or St Munchin Catholic Church in Cameron.
