SAVANNAH, Mo. – Michael Allen Dunnihoo, 65, Savannah, Missouri, passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Michael was born on June 28, 1959, in St. Joseph, to Glen and Norma (Pritchett) Dunnihoo. Michael graduated from Elwood, Kansas, High School in 1977 and spent most of his life in Savannah. After graduation he quickly joined the workforce. Michael worked for the Labors Local Union 579 for over 20 years as a laborer doing many things, before he had to retire to fight his battle with cancer. He enjoyed reading, fishing, collecting Nascar memorabilia, and watching the Chiefs on Sundays. His most cherished thing to do was spending time and making memories with his daughters and grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Jamie (Tim) Thompson, Kansas City, Missouri, and Samantha (Carl) Cook, St. Joseph; brother, Randy Dunnihoo; sisters, Ruth (Rob) Andres and Beth Chalender; and grandchildren, Hailey, Able, Piper Elise, and Dominick Matthew.
He is preceded by his parents, Glen and Norma Dunnihoo, and his nephew, Terry “TJ” Chalender.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at The First Baptist Church, Savannah, with Pastor Clyde Pritchett officiating. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and may be left in care of his daughter, Jamie Thompson, or directly dent to St. Jude’s in his name.
