Jimmie Morris Collins, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, in a Kansas City, Missouri, hospital. He was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Maryillle, Missouri, son of the late Virginia and Herschel Collins. He served in the United States Army.
Jimmie as an Auto Mechanic working for John Collins Repair, as well as other area shops. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, tinkering on his tractors, telling jokes, and going to Betty’s Cafe. He was a member of VFW post 6760.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Douglas Crisp; brothers, Albert, Don “Bob”, Karl, Bill, and Dick Collins; and his sister, Virginia Piveral.
Survivors include: sons, Kevin (Karen) Collins, Olathe, Kansas, James Collins, St. Joseph; daughters, Kim (Robert) Groce, St Joseph, and Jennie (Chad) Russell, St. Joseph; stepson, Skip (Amy) Crisp; brothers, John (Phyllis) Collins, and Jerry (Lela) Collins; sisters, Mary Hicks, Pat Baker, and Joyce (Dean) McMichael; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; and his long time companion Henrietta Crisp, of St. Joseph.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow starting at 1:00 pm Saturday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Inurnment with full Military Honors at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Whispering Pines section.
