Katharine Riley Temps, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at Field Pointe Assisted Living, in St. Joseph. Katharine was born on Feb. 12, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, to Helen (Becker) and James F. Riley. Katharine lived in St. Joseph for the past 57 years.

Katharine was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1955, where she met Leo H. Temps. They married in 1956. Katharine worked alongside her husband at All American Rentals until retiring in 1985. After retirement she loved to volunteer for the following organizations for many years: Heartland Hospital, Mosaic Hospice, Meals on Wheels Delivery, Christ Church Altar Guild, and the St. Joseph Museum. She also belonged to Junior League of St. Joseph and PEO Chapter-BP.

Katharine was preceded in death by her parents Helen and James Riley, husband Leo Temps. She is survived by her two daughters Kimberly Engel, of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Lori T. Murphy, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a brother, James F. Riley Jr., of Christchurch, New Zealand. Additional survivors include dear friends: Nancy Siemens and Sandra Hamilton.

Memorial Services will take place at Christ Episcopal Church at 207 N. 7th Street, in downtown St. Joseph, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at 1 p.m. with inurnment taking place in the church columbarium.

Memorial donations may be made to either Mosaic Hospice or Christ Episcopal Church, St. Joseph, in lieu of flowers. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
