McCray, Ralph E. 1934-2024 Savannah, Mo.

SAVANNAH, Mo. – Ralph Edward “Ed” McCray was born on July 17, 1934, in Agency, Missouri. He was one of five children of Ralph C. and Loie E. (Deakins) McCray.
Ed grew up in Agency and graduated from Gower, Missouri, High School. He was an over-the-road truck driver and retired from CFI truck lines. He continued to drive trucks until he was 89 years old, and helped Radley Farms in Oregon. When he wasn’t working, Ed enjoyed camping, spending time with friends, following Mizzou and Chiefs football.
On March 10, 1990, he married Lavona Hughes in Miami, Oklahoma. They lived in Oregon until moving to Savannah, Missouri, several years ago.
Ed passed away at his Savannah home on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at the age of 90.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sisters, Connie and Anna McCray; and sister, Virginia Isaacs.
Survivors include his wife Lavona, of Savannah; sister, Emma Bottiger, San Antonio, Texas; several children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life gathering will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at the Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Missouri. A private interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon.
Following the interment, the family will gather with friends for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the GOAT Grub and Pub, 137 W. Nodaway, Oregon, Missouri.
