GALENA, Mo. – Karen “K.J.” Buckman, 60, of Galena, Missouri, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born July 6, 1964, in Kansas City, daughter of Barbara and Walter Brickey. She graduated from Lone Jack High School and Missouri Western State University with a B.S.N. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at Mosaic Life Care Hospital as a Registered Nurse.

K.J. was a country girl who loved being outside, fishing and hunting and keeping herself busy. She enjoyed animals and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by father, Walter Brickey; and husband, Hurshell L. Barnes Jr.

Survivors include mother, Barbara Brickey, of Lone Jack, MO., daughter, Carrie Loveland (Randy Smith), Pleasant Hill, Missouri; brothers, Jim (Cindy) Brickey, Walter Brickey, and Jason (Monica) Brickey; sisters, Roxanne Brickey, and Joy (Brian) Guyman; grandchildren: Bradley (Kayla) Loveland, Trea (Haley) Loveland, Krystina Vincent, Graclyn Loveland, and Hurshell Loveland; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. Andy Campbell officiating. The Interment will be at the Flag Springs Cemetery, Flag Springs, Missouri.
