Our loving mother and grandmother, Betty June (Schaber) Crawford, age 95, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born June 20, 1929, in Amazonia, Missouri, the daughter of the late John and Cecil (Moser) Schaber. She graduated from Lafayette High School, and the St. Joseph Junior College. Betty was a member of St. James Catholic Church and St. James Altar Society where she served as secretary for many years. She was also a member of the Sparta Club. She was a dedicated prayer warrior, who loved praying for her immediate and extended family daily. Faith, family, and friends were her life. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved life on the farm, time spent in the garden, and watching God’s creation flourish.

Betty was proceeded in death by Glen Crawford, her beloved husband of 50 years; her brother, Edward Schaber; and her son-in-law, Robert Carpenter.

Those who will cherish her memory are her five children, Cathy Carlton, Cumming, Georgia, Bob (Marsha) Crawford, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, John (Lana) Crawford, Hamilton, Missouri, Debby (Scott) Gann and Susan Carpenter, of St. Joseph; 16 grandchildren, Mike (Annie) Crawford, Brian (Franny) Crawford, Emily (Tom) Miller, Sarah Crawford, Ashley (Robert) Boozer, Betsi Whiteman, Jacob (Kayla) Carlton, Lauren (Brandon) Nystrom, Cole (Sarah) Crawford, Kersten (Chase) Morrison, Crayton (Paige) Crawford, Jenny (Jonathan) Patterson, Becky (Alex) Baumann, Kelly (John) Anderson, Matthew Carpenter, Ryan (Rachel) Carpenter; 15 great- grandchildren, Finley and Henry Boozer, David and Theo Crawford, Will and Ginny Crawford, Adelaide and Charlotte Miller, Lydia, Luke and Theodore Nystrom, John and James Crawford, Fern Morrison and Stetson Crawford; and her sister-in-law, Kaylene Schaber.

The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church, Fr. Jonathan Davis Celebrant. The interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family request memorials in lieu of flowers to the St. James Altar Society or the Pregnancy Resource Center.
