Evelyn Furst, 96, St. Joseph, formerly of Cosby, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.

She was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Rosendale, Missouri, to Harry B. and Mabel N. (Adkins) Rhoades.

After a year of study at Northwest Missouri State University she received her teaching certificate. She taught at Rosendale, Missouri, public school for a year.

Evelyn married Earl W. Furst on May 22, 1948. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2020.

Evelyn was an active participant in 4-H and the community. She was involved in numerous churches and their activities. She enjoyed square dancing and shared her love of antique cars with the Moila Old Tymer’s. Evelyn also enjoyed going on trips with Earl on their private plane.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Earl; her parents; daughter, Cindy Lou Furst; daughter-in-law, Marian Furst; great-grandson, Daniel; sisters, Louanne Furst and Edwina Gomel.

Survivors include her children, Ray Furst (Janet) and Kenneth Furst; grandchildren, Scott, Jasen, Spencer, Melissa, Chris, Amanda, Sarah, and Zachary; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10 a.m. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
