On Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, Larry Lee Hoecker, loving husband and father of two sons, passed away at the age of 81.

Larry was born on Sept. 23, 1942, in St. Joseph, to Raymond and Nannie (Cox) Hoecker. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1961, and had a career as an insurance broker in St. Joseph and the outlying area for over 35 years.

On April 6, 1963, he married Sandra Kay Canterbury, to whom he was married for 61 years. They raised two sons, Landon and Jarrod.

He had a deep interest in music throughout his life and was an avid reader. In his early retirement years, he thoroughly enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle with his wife and friends and later developed a passion for Bible study.

Family was always a central part of his life. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Ray; his mother, Nan; and brother, Tom.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his two sons, Landon and Jarrod; and his brothers, Dick and Dan.

Graveside Farewell Service and Inurnment 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, Memorial Park Cemetery. The procession will leave from Meierhoffer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
