LAMONI, Iowa – Sandra L. Pace (Sandy Daniel), passed away peacefully in her home with her daughters by her side on May 10, 2024.
Sandy was born on Dec. 25, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. In 1955, Sandy was adopted by her loving and caring parents, Covell and Ruth (Redman) Daniel. Sandy lived in Downey, California, with her parents and brother before moving to their farm in Weatherby, Missouri, as a teenager.
Graduating from Maysville, Missouri, High School, class of 1970, Sandy continued her education at Missouri Western (MWSC) with a Bachelors in Social work in 1989, Sandy then later went on to obtain her Master’s in Social Work from The University of Missouri in 2002.
In 1971 Sandy married Stanley Rice, of Weatherby. To this union two daughters were born, Angela (Angie Rice) Jones and Cheri Rice (her favorite, Haha).
In 1981 Sandy married Clyde Pace. of Hemple, Missouri. To this union her daughter, Wendy Pace, was born.
Sandy worked numerous years as a Social Worker for both Mosaic Medical Center and Family Guidance Center before taking early retirement in 2015.
Sandy flourished in just about everything she set her mind to. There wasn’t a sport she wasn’t good at, from softball, volleyball, bowling, swimming, and archery, to acting in plays during college. Sandy also loved camping, fishing, and barrel racing with her horse Brownie.
Sandy was an amazing mom, grandma, friend, cook, gardener, and could light a room with her smile.
In January 2017, Sandy was diagnosed with frontal temporal dementia (FTD). Her daughter, Cheri, selflessly devoted several years to taking care of her mom and providing a loving and caring environment, to which Sandy’s other daughters, granddaughters and great-grandchildren are forever greatful.
Sandy is proceeded in death by her parents, Covell and Ruth (Redman) Daniel; paternal grandparents, George and Hazel (Pittsenbarger) Daniel; maternal grandparents, Ardy and Emma (Taylor) Redman; and biological half-sister, Patricia Gagnon.
Sandy is survived by her daughters, Angie (Robert Smith) Jones, Pattonsburg, Missouri, Cheri Rice, of the home, Lamoni, Iowa, and Wendy Pace, Coos Bay, Oregon; granddaughters, Breanna (Austin) Jones Burton, Lamoni, and Gia Pace (Keighdanz Barraza), Pattonsburg; three great-grandchildren, Braelynn, Avery and Tayven Burton, Lamoni; three nephews, Brian Daniel, Montose, Minnesota, Paul (Kathy) Daniel, Gower, Missouri, and Ben (Heidi) Daniel, Maysville, Missouri; and a half-niece, Christine Fletcher of Oregon; numerous great-nieces and great-nephew and one great-great-niece.
Sandy’s wishes were to be cremated under the direction of Turner Family Funeral Home, in Maysville.
A memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Turner Family Funeral Home, in Maysville. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Association For Frontotemporal Dementia.
