CAMERON, Mo. – Gordon Dale Swindler passed away on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the Missouri Veterans Home, in Cameron, Missouri.
Gordon Dale was born June 11, 1932, in Hamilton, Missouri, to George and Bertha Swindler.
Gordon Dale married Shirley Misenhelter on Nov. 22, 1958, and together raised two children, Jim Swindler and Linda Swindler Franke, both of Kansas City, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife; son, Jim Swindler (Becky); daughter, Linda Franke (Scott Franke former son-in-law); granddaughter, Lindsey Swindler; grandson, Max Franke; and numerous relatives.
Gordon Dale was active in his community with being on the church board at the Hamilton Methodist Church, Mayor of Hamilton, The Hamilton American Legion Post #285 treasurer and honor guard member, the Hamilton School Board, and a member of a social group that gathered that called themselves “the supper club.”
If you had the pleasure of meeting Gordon Dale and his sparkling blue eyes and smile is to say you encountered a friend for life. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed random acts of kindness such as mowing lawns for all of his neighbors during the summer and clearing snow in the winter. Teaching countless friends how to waterski at the lake during the summer always put a smile on his face. He was always cheering, “just one more time!”
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ama Alden; and sister-in-law, Sue Allen.
