Richard LaVerne Benedict, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, in a St. Joseph hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1946, in Keytesville, Missouri, son of the late Thelma and James Benedict. He worked at Carnation Can, Artesian Ice, and retired from AGP. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his family.

Richard was preceded in death by wife, Jeaniece Marie Benedict; his parents; son, Richard Benedict; brother, John Benedict; sisters, Linda Gunn and Helen Claycomb.

Survivors include sons, Douglas (Jenifer) Benedict, St. Joseph, and Kevin Benedict; grandsons, Cameron (Amber) Benedict, Kodi (Coral) Benedict, and Kyle (Gabi) Benedict; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim (Kim) Benedict; sisters, JoAnn Wilcoxson, Donna Benedict.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Mount Auburn Cemetery.
