D. Scott Summerford, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care. He was born Feb. 20, 1954, in Tampa, Florida, son of Gola “Jeanne” and Al Summerford. He graduated from Lafayette High School, 1972, and Park University, RN. Scott worked many years as a Registered Nurse. He was also a longtime Bandmember of Crystal Flames. Scott was a great musician, loved gardening, was a good friend and enjoyed helping others.
He was preceded in death by wife, Cindy Summerford; his parents; and daughter, Pandora Summerford.
Survivors include children, Kilah Castillo, of St. Joseph, Shanna (Jim) Bosley, of Savannah, Missouri, David (Stacy) Summerford, of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Jennifer (Colton) Galvan, of St. Joseph; siblings, Denice Summerford, of Bemidji, Minnesota, Daniel Summerford, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Devin (Kelly) Summerford, of Blue Springs; former wife, Marcia Williams, of Savannah; grandchildren, Bailey, Katie, Brandon, Brysen, Kyle, Phoebe, Steven, Piper, Mason, Alex, Kelli Ann, Trinity, Keegan and Mackenzie; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; and other extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Mr. Summerford will be cremated following services.
