Elaine Hughes, 86, of St. Joseph passed away July 21, 2024.

She lived all of her life in St. Joseph and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart and Platte College of Commerce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Helen (Kempf) Noonan; her brother, John Noonan; and her husband, Jerry, who passed away March 26, 2012.

Survivors are her beloved step-children, Dara (Charles) Macan, of Overland Park, Kansas, Diane (Dennis) Pickett, of St. Augustine, Florida, Chris (Suzie) Hughes, of Angier, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Per Elaine’s request, her body will be donated to science for research. Upon completion her remains will be buried with her husband, Jerry, the love of her life.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Historical Society, Robidoux Row Museum, or charity of donors choice.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
