Nelda Brotherton, 79, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024.
She was born Oct. 18, 1944, to Leota (Blankenship) and David Guttridge, in Independence, Missouri.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was known for her kindness, creativity, and love for her family.
Nelda was married to Richard Brotherton for 62 years. Together, they raised three loving children who were the pride and joy of her life.
She had a passion for sewing, quilting, and reading. She spent countless hours creating beautiful quilts and garments. Her love for reading filled her home with amazing stories.
Nelda’s Legacy of love, creativity, and warmth will be cherished by her husband, Richard, their three children, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dawn Easley, Connie Leavy and Cindy Lilliston.
Survivors include her husband; children, MaLinda Fernandes (Alan Fernandes [deceased]), Gary Brotherton (Chris Brown) and Rick Brotherton (Pamma); grandchildren, Daniel Booth (Deb), Derick Booth (Chey), Samuel Brotherton, Grace Brotherton, Xander Brotherton and Quinlynn Brotherton; great-grandchildren, Connor Booth, Avie Booth, Jeremy (Allison) Thornhill, Tristan (Autumn) Maynard and Angel Maynard; siblings, Pat Otto (Roger Otto), Howard Easley, David Lilliston, Ron (Martha) Brotherton, Larry (Teresa) Brotherton and Debbie (Darrell) Eaton.
