Barbara Jean Lemley, 72, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in St. Joseph. She was born May 27, 1952, in Honolulu, Hawaii, daughter of the late Edna and James Shipley. She graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest.
Barbara worked at Buchanan County News as an Editor and Feature Writer and at Mid-Buchanan school as a Computer Tech Aid. She enjoyed cooking, geneology, going to the zoo and museums, and was a member of the St. Joseph Museum Association and Zoological Society.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald K. Lemley; and grandson, Dylan Kekai Ching.
Survivors include daughters, Tara Lee Mollison, of Belton, Missouri, Mary Alice (Greg) Stafford and Rachel (Sean) Burley, all of St. Joseph; sister, Kathryn Dietrich, of St. Joseph; brother, James Ralph Shipley III, of San Springs, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home. A private Graveside Funeral Service following the visitation at the Agency Cemetery, Pastor Joe Voga officiating.
