CORVALLIS, Ore. – Nancy Sue Kurth (Rice) passed away on June 29, 2024, at the age of 78 years old, surrounded by loving family.

Nancy was born in St. Joseph to Richard and Dorothy (Dishman) Rice.

She graduated from Lafayette High School, in St. Joseph, and attended the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Missouri. Nancy was on the high school honor roll all four years, varsity cheerleader three years, 1964 basketball queen, talent queen and Senior Class president.

Nancy was retired from American Family Insurance and Horizon Restoration.

She was a 55 year member of Sweet Adeline’s International where she held many positions too numerous to mention. She enjoyed singing, directing and coaching many chorus and quartets. Nancy believed in bringing young people to singing and continues to support Young Singers Foundation.

Nancy is survived by her husband, David, and two sons, Eric and Tige (Ellie); grandsons, Oliver, Emmett, Braxton and Ethan; and two great-grandchildren; brothers, John Rice, Shawnee, Kansas, Dan Rice, Overland Park, Kansas, Scott Smith, Marshfield, Missouri; sisters, Lisa Woolridge, Columbia, Missouri, Sybil Thompson, Cameron, Missouri; and many nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; guardian Gerald J. Dishman; brother, Michael J. Rice; and nephew, Keegan A Rice.
