BOLCKOW, Mo. – Ruth Ann (Townsend) Zion, 78, Bolckow, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born on May 9, 1946, in St. Joseph, to the late William and Mary (Kirby) Townsend. She was a graduate of Savannah, Missouri, High School

Ruth married Ed Zion on April 5, 1968, and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother.

In addition to caring for her family, Ruth also co-owned Ed’s DX Service, in Rosendale, Missouri.

Ruth was a member of Rea Union Church. She enjoyed crafting and gardening. She was an avid seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Dean Zion, and daughter, Kathy Lynn Zion.

Ruth is survived by her son, Robert “Flip” Zion (Beth); daughter, Lisa Bacon (Randall); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service and Interment 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel.

The family would like to invite all attendees to come dressed in colorful clothing in honor of Ruth’s love of colorful flowers.

The family has requested memorial donations to the St. Joseph Humane Society. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
