Wanda J. Sampson, 87, St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024.
She was born May 29, 1937, in St. Joseph, to Glen and Hester (Dunham) Lawrence. She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Benton High school.
She worked on the assembly line at ADCO for 32 years until retirement.
Wanda loved gambling, whether it was at the local casino or in Las Vegas, and liked to play cards, especially Skip-Bo. She also enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
Family time was important to Wanda, and she loved having everyone over for big dinners.
An ornery spitfire who wouldn’t hesitate to tell you what she thought, she kept things real for her daughters and they appreciated that.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Glenda Hewitt and Gerald Lawrence.
Survivors include her daughters, Zoe Bernard and Tara Wade; grandchildren, Blair Bernard, Bryce Bernard, Jaydee Pummell, and Tanner Billings; great-grandchildren, Harmani, Cian, Camin and Brylynn Bernard, and Wyatt and Callie Pummell; great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Tate and Colt Cox, Xacani Robinson, and Carter Fox; siblings, Vernon Lawrence and Gayle Pummell (Leon); many nieces, nephews and cousins; and best friend of more than 70 years, Bonnie Smith.
Natural Farewell under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
