Cupryk, Gertrude 1921-2024 Mesa, Ariz.

MESA, Ariz. – Gertrude Vollmer Cupryk, formerly of St Joseph and Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on May 29, 2024, in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 103. She was born on May 6, 1921, to Karl and Elisabeth Vollmer, in Groetzingen, Germany. She married Volodymyr Cupryk in 1948 and they came to the U.S. in 1950. She retired as an OR nurse at the local hospital and moved to Albuquerque with her husband.

She had a deep faith in God and was very active in her local church community and choir. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, ceramics, gardening and was also an excellent cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Matt Deshon; and four siblings.

Surviving family include daughter, Daria (Richard) Deshon, Faucett, Missouri; sons, Dan (Connie) Cupryk, Lenexa, Kansas, Roman (Kathy) Cupryk, Mesa, and Tim (Pat) Cupryk, Bernalillo, New Mexico; grandchildren, Kathy (Mark) Manville, Jason (Rachel) Cupryk, Jeremy (Jill) Cupryk, Danielle (Dan) Novascone, Scott Cupryk, Linda Cupryk; great-grandchildren, Jack (Emily) Deshon, Colton Manville and Emily Auxier, Tyler Manville and Kristin Cox, Arionna Deshon, Lexi Deshon, Katelyn Cupryk, Jacob Cupryk, Julia Cupryk, Jordan Cupryk, William Novascone, Ada Novascone; great-great-grandchildren, Carter DeShon and Wrenley Manville.

She was cremated by A Wise Choice Cremation & Funeral Services, in Mesa. A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
