Barbara Jean Funk, 88, of St Joseph, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at a Savannah, Missouri, health care facility. She was born June 25, 1935, in St. Joseph, daughter of Mary and William McGuire. She attended Benton High School. She married Calvin Funk on May 22, 1959, in St. Joseph. She worked at Hosea Elementary as a Lunchroom Supervisor. Barb loved baking, especially pies and hosting family Friday night dinners. She was a member of South St. Joseph Progressive Association, Hosea PTA, the former King Hill United Methodist, Wesley United Methodist Church. She served in the kitchen for many years at King Hill Methodist preparing meals for Southside Rotary and other church functions.
Barbara was preceded in death by husband, Calvin Funk Sr. in 2008; her parents; brothers, Robert, Ralph and Gene McGuire; sisters, Martha Singleton, Betty Scofield, and Ida May Pummell; three children, Ronnie Ray Ferguson, Mary Kathryn Trickett and James Funk; and a grandson, Tommy Higdon.
Survivors include children, Richie Funk, Connie (Birt) Shirey, Roxanna (Bob) Kerns, all of St. Joseph, and Calvin “CR” (Terri) Funk Jr., of Deltona, Florida; son-in-law, Dennis Trickett, of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Tony, Margo, Donita, Becky, Billy Ray, Jeremy, Amy, Chad, Barbie, Heather, Priscilla, Johnny, Danielle, Douglas, Casey and Christian; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. The Interment will be at Ashland Cemetery.
