STEWARTSVILLE, Mo. — David W. Bayer, 68, of Stewartsville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, peacefully at home after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 19, 1955, in Cameron, Missouri, son of William F. Bayer and Mary L. Bayer. In April of 2002, he met the love of his life, Mary, and they wed on June 16, 2006. He was a man of many talents including carpentry, mechanics, building homes, and working on his farm. He most recently was working with Scott Gann Construction. He was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, and enjoyed watching and going to the games. He also loved building Legos, hosting family get-togethers, and traveling. He loved having family around and spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was never idle, and spent hours in his shed working on projects, and helping others with their needs.

David was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary, and his brother, Roland Bayer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Catina Middleton, Debora (Gabriel) Romero, David (Amanda) Bayer, Heather (Dustin) Kelley, Jason (Michele) Pyles, and Tracy (Kevin) Wirts; brothers, James, William, Charles, and Marvin; and sisters, Tonya and Starletta; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Daniel Quinn.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, Chaplain Dennis Jones officiating at the Rupp Funeral Home. The interment will be at the High Prairie Cemetery, Cosby, Missouri.
