Marjorie Mae “Nana” Weddle, 101, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

She was born Sept. 14, 1922, in St. Joseph, to Chester and Sophia Harris. She graduated from Central High School.

Marjorie married George “Vernon” Weddle on Sept. 26, 1943. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1998.

After she raised her boys, Marjorie worked at Christ Episcopal Church as a secretary, then did seasonal sales at Bed, Bath and Beyond. She may be most remembered for giving samples at Hy-Vee, where she loved interacting with customers.

She was a member of 2nd Presbyterian Church (now Trinity Presbyterian), PEO Sisterhood Chapter HY, Carnegie Club, Garden Club, and had volunteered at Heartland Hospital Gift Shop for 26 years.

Marjorie was a good artist and enjoyed painting, sewing, and working on coloring books.

Marjorie loved her family and friends and loved attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Vernon; her parents; daughter-in-law, Cathy Weddle; and sisters, Shirley Parker and Maxine Moore.

Survivors include her sons, Don Weddle (Linda), of St. Joseph, and Kenneth Weddle (Charlotte), of Topeka, Kansas; six grandchildren, Chris Weddle (Liz), Darci Shuster (Tim), Annie Frazier (Lee), Callie Kramer (Brad), Colby Weddle (Megan), and Abbie Griess (Corey); 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contributions to InterServ or Habitat for Humanity.
