MCALLEN, Texas -Robert N. “Bobby” Smith was born in St Joseph on Feb. 21, 1950, and passed from this life into eternity on April 26, 2024, in McAllen, Texas.

He was a Master Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, a Vietnam veteran, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion and VFW.

Robert was a loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many people, including longtime sweetheart, Donna Groh, of St Joseph, and children, Anthony Hellerich (Stephanie) and Ericha Dawn Peters (Sean); and grandchildren, David, Makayla and Brinley Peters, Aubrie, Hunter and Hank Hellerich.

He is survived by his daughter, LaDonna Smith Braidlow (Dan); four grandchildren, Erika RaDeana Smith, Jessika Norris, Daniel Robert Braidlow, Micah Lee Braidlow; eight great-grandchildren; his brothers, Richard Smith, Terry Smith (Val), and Gary Smith; nephews: Richard Smith II (Jill), Cody Smith, Jason Smith, and Joshua Smith; along with great nieces and nephews.

At Bobby’s request there will not be a funeral service. He will be cremated and his remains taken out to sea by his daughter. Sincere apologies for any errors or omissions in this account were not made maliciously.
