CAMERON, Mo. – Francis J. Volz, 95, of Cameron, Missouri, and formerly of St. Paul, Kansas, Parsons, Kansas, and St. Joseph, passed away the morning of Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Cameron Veterans Home, in Cameron.

Francis James Volz was born on Nov. 3, 1928, to Herman Luke and Louise (Sack) Volz, in St. Paul. He grew up and attended school in St. Paul, graduating from St. Francis High School in 1947.

Following high school, Francis served in the United States Army in Korea.

On July 12, 1955, Francis and Teresanell Hill were united in marriage at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Walnut, Kansas. The couple moved to Parsons and he began working at NCR as a business machine service technician. In 1977, the family moved to St. Joseph where he continued working for NCR until he retired. He returned to Parsons in 1999, where he lived until 2013, when he moved to St. Paul and in 2018 moved to Cameron.

A devout Catholic, Francis was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, in St. Paul, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parsons, Co-Cathedral, St. Joseph, St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Parsons, and St. Munchin Catholic Church in Cameron. While living in Parsons, he was very involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Brown-Bishop VFW Post 704.

Francis was a “fix-it-man” with a special talent for repairing clocks. A gentleman to everyone he met, Frances loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include: four sons, Jim Volz and his wife, Pam, of Cordele, Georgia, Brian Volz and his wife, Lisa, of Cameron, Neal Volz, of Kansas City, Missouri, Dan Volz, of Prairie Village, Kansas; one daughter, Lori Horan and her husband, Terence, of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresanell, on May 13, 1998; one son, Kurt Volz, on Feb. 23, 2013; and one great-grandson, Zack Keene, on May 28, 2021.

There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, in Cameron.

The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, in Parsons. The family will receive friends following the rosary. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 3, at St. Francis Catholic Church, in St. Paul. Burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, in St. Paul.
