James LeRoy Heyde, 61, St. Joseph, passed away peacefully at his home on April 29, 2024.
He was born on July 26, 1962, to Robert L. and Phyllis D. (Kremeyer) Heyde, in the family home in Stanberry, Missouri.
He graduated from Stanberry High School in May 1981.
He married his high school sweetheart, Paula Ginther, on May 3, 1985, at St. Francis Xavier Church, in St. Joseph.
He worked at Pineview Manor, Woodsen Children’s Psychiatric Hospital, Citadel Nursing Home, Heartland Regional Medical Center, Altec Industries, Inc., St. Joseph Frontier Casino, Summit Truck Bodies and Gray Manufacturing, Inc.
Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, his many fur babies, and was a huge fan of all things “Harry Potter.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, William and Maise Heyde and Jack and Esther Stiffler; brothers, Craig Vinson and William (Bill) Heyde; father-in-law, Leo Ginther; and sister-in-law, Anne Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Paula, of the home; half-sister, Audrey Lee Leppo, Jacumba, California; mother-in-law, Laveta Ginther, Stanberry; sisters-in-law, Betsy Conover and husband Dan, Stanberry, and Martha Kovachevich and husband Mark, Quincy, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Ed Ginther and wife, Nelda, Stanberry, and Francis Ginther and wife, Robyn, Marion, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.
The family will gather with friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Joseph.
