Dora Mae Ewart, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, in a St. Joseph hospital. She was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Burlington Junction, Missouri, daughter of the late Mabel and Al Sauter. She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1950, and married Alvin Ewart on June 18, 1950, he preceded her in death on March 14, 2017.

Dora was the Librarian at Hosea Elementary for over 25 years. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, quilting, jewelry making, ceramics, she loved cooking and spending time with her family and grandkids. She was a member of the King Hill Christian Church.

Dora was preceded in death by husband; parents; brothers, James and Leonard McCombs, Harold, Dale, and Raymond Sauter; sisters, Mary Newkirk, and Anna McMillian.

Survivors include children, Alvin Lynn (Gerri) Ewart, Joyce (Mike) Nold, Rodney (Charla) Ewart, Linda Bonea, Les Ewart, and David (Carla) Ewart, all of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Lou Smith; as well as numerous, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, The Interment will be at the Mount Auburn Cemetery.
