Franklin Lee Reed, 61, of St. Joseph, passed away April 21, 2024, at 1:56 p.m. at his home after a brief illness with loved ones by his side. He was born Aug. 26, 1962, in St. Joseph. He worked at J&L for 29 years.

Franklin’s joy was his grandchildren, he also loved deer hunting, mushroom hunting, camping, dirt track racing, and being around friends.

Franklin was preceded in death by his father, James F. Reed; mother, Jeanette (Wright) Richey; brother, James “Tinker” Reed; and grandson, Tanner James Sipes.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Reed, of 36 years; his children, son, Franklin T. Reed, daughters, Kimberly Smith and Amber (Jeremy) Larabee; brother, Billy (Veronica) Reed; sisters, Barbara Lockhart, Donna Blacksheer, and Debbie Stone; grandchildren, Terry “Ty” Sipes, Serenity “Sis”, Kiera “Bugs” Smith, AJ, TJ; niece, Maddie; aunt and uncle, Reona (Leonard) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream 3 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024.
