Carmen Marie Palma, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024. She was born July 15, 1933, in St. Joseph, daughter of the late, Jose and Josefa (Garcia) Rivera. Carmen married Peter J. Palma on June 6, 1953, at Holy Rosary Church, in St. Joseph, and they shared 70 years together.

Carmen worked at Armour Meat Packers and Johnson Control, and supplied St. Joseph with some of the best Wedding and Birthday cakes ever. Her favorite hobbies include being with family, horse races, and Bingo, where she was the luckiest woman ever. Carmen was a member of St. Patrick Church Altar Society and Little United Nations, along with being a member at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; son, Peter Joseph Palma III; daughter, Elisha Palma; and siblings, Anthony, Lazaro, Paul, Aldolpho, John, Rosemary, Frank, Joseph, and Guadalupe.

Survivors include her husband Pete, who survives of the home; son, Rick (Lynn) Palma, of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Brandi, Briana, Anthony, Bethany (Austin), Kayla, Cali (Justin), Jesse (Jolee), and Maddie; 15 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lollie Rivera and Pat (Jackie) Rivera; and sister, Helen Thornton.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fr. Jonathan Davis Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the St. Patrick Bell Tower Restoration Fund.
