Dean found his love of farming early, bought his first farm when he was a junior in high school, and was a lifelong farmer. He was the happiest sitting on a tractor or taking care of his cows.
On Sept. 7, 1991, he married the love of his life, Tam Allen, of Maryville, and they built their life on a farm in Guilford where they welcomed daughter, Allie Anne, and son, Grant Allen. Dean was a loving father and supported his children in all things being number one on their speed dial, night or day.
Dean is survived by his wife, Tam and son, Grant of the home; daughter, Allie and son-in-law, John Flory, of Lawrence, Kansas; and his pride and joy granddaughter, Macy Dean Flory. Dean is also survived by his parents, Stephen and Bernadette Meyer, of Stanberry; sisters, Chris (Greg) McQuinn, of Conception Jct., Deanna (Eric) Lewis, of Winston, Missouri, Karla (Jeremy) McQueen, Alena (Kent) Peterson, of Stanberry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his niece, Morgan Ann Peterson, and his in-laws, Stuart and Peggy Allen.
Dean was a member of St. Columba Parish, Tri-C Fire Department and was a 3rd Degree in the Knights of Columbus.
Dean is remembered for his infectious smile, his great laugh, and the twinkle in his eyes. He was always there for his family and friends and was the first one to help anyone in need. This last year has been a challenge, and the family is grateful for the love and support from family, friends, and the whole community. He will be greatly missed.
