ANNANDALE, N.J. – Carolyn Grace Windsor, age 77, of Annandale, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Hunterdon Medical Center, in Flemington, New Jersey, with her daughter by her side. Born Nov. 2, 1946, in Lincoln, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Carl William Manthey and the late Madeline Reta (Mergen) Manthey, of Fairbury, Nebraska.
Carolyn received her Registered Nurse and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska School of Nursing, in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1970. She then went on to obtain her Master of Arts Degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa School of Nursing, in Iowa City, Iowa, in 1976. She was a dedicated nursing educator, having taught nursing as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Missouri Western State University, in St. Joseph, for 17 years. She then moved to New Jersey and became an Education Specialist at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, from 2008 through 2023.
She was a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau nursing society, having been a founding member of the Omicron Nu chapter at Missouri Western State University, in St. Joseph. She published multiple articles and gave presentations on a variety of matters from cultural competence in nursing to an evaluation of the intersection of nursing education and development. Throughout her career, she developed nursing courses, conducted nursing orientation for new staff hires, and worked with various schools of nursing in the furtherance of nursing education.
In her spare time, Carolyn loved watching tv and movies, being outside, travelling, and spending time with her daughter, Kathryn, and grandpup, Sophie. An eternal optimist, she loved new adventures and had a passion for making people smile.
Carolyn is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Alexandra Windsor, of Annandale, and grandpup, Sophie Windsor.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 3 until 6 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, located at 171 Route 31, Clinton, N.J. 08809. Immediately following the visitation a Prayer Service for Carolyn will be held at the funeral funeral home.
