KIDDER, Mo. – Joseph Patrick O’Connor, 80, of Kidder, Missouri, passed away March 9, 2024. Pat was born Nov. 27, 1943, to Thomas Bernard and Dorothy Harriet (Stade) O’Connor, in St. Joseph.

Pat was a 1961 graduate of Cameron, Missouri, High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during Vietnam. He received his bachelor’s degree in safety management from Central Missouri State University. He was employed by Kansas City Power and Light for 26 years until his retirement. After retiring from KCPL, Pat worked as a self-employed safety consultant for 10 years retiring in 2019.

Pat was a member of the St. Munchin Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 1110, in Cameron. Pat served on the KAW Fire District, Kidder City Council, Kidder Senior Housing and Heartland Troupe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill, Bernie, Bud and Bob; sisters, Patricia Adkison and Carolyn Maynord; grandson, Cory Bates; granddaughter, Samantha Hovey.

Pat is survived by his wife, Patricia, of the home; daughters, Terri (Dennis) Geary, Monkey Island, Oklahoma, Leslie (Scott) Shoemaker, Kansas City, Missouri, Gina Silkwood, Hamilton, Missouri, Kelly (Stephen) Long, Monkey Island; sons, David (Debra) Weaver, Steven (Rosie) Weaver, Patrick Weaver, Brian Weaver; brother, David (Donna) O’Connor, Cameron, twin brother, Mike (Elaine) O’Connor, Quinton, New Jersey; sisters, Susie (Bill) Matteson, Liberty, Missouri, Margaret Cryer, Portage, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial fund will be to the Pregnancy Resource Clinic (St. Joseph PRC) DBA Willowbrook Women’s Center 210 Main Street, Cameron, and St. Jude Childrens Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024, at St. Munchin Catholic Church, Cameron. Visitation, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the church. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. prior to the visitation. Burial with Military Honors, St. Munchin Cemetery, Cameron.
