Janet Kay Wykert, 82, St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.

She was born on Dec. 21, 1941, in St. Joseph, to Herbert and Lena (Riley) Benner. She graduated from Lafayette High School.

Janet married Donald Ray Wykert on Sept. 3, 1971. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2014.

She worked for Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center as an investigator for several years. Janet also volunteered with home hospice groups.

She was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church and Shamrock Sisters.

Janet loved spending time with her family, and she especially loved her cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; daughter, Kelli Wykert; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include children, Kenneth Tanner (Debbie), Kelly Walls (Jeffrey), Kari Tyree and Traci Wykert; brother, Glenn Benner (Patricia); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10 a.m. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Green Valley Baptist Church Ministry.
