Janet Shryock McCoy, 77, St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1946, to Raymond F. and Rosebelle (Lundy) Shryock, in St. Joseph.

Janet worked for Methodist Hospital as a nursing tech for several years, and later retired from Excelsior Springs Hospital, where she worked as a therapist.

She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Janet enjoyed going dancing, listening to her husband’s band play, baking, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Galen A. McCoy; siblings, Joyce, Judy, Jeannie, Detra, Lavetta, Jacqueline, Ronnie and Donald; and her daughter, Stacy Stout.

Survivors include her children, Gina Atkins (Tom), Carl Nation Jr. (Carrie), and Stephnie Reynolds; siblings, Ralph (Darla), Gerald (Terry), Jim (Linda) and Joe Shryock; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kodie), Douglas (Stephanie), Travis (Brianna), Matthew, Sharmyn, Sierra, Samantha (Tim), Nicole (Conner), Makayla (Skyler) and James; and 11 great-grandchildren.
