Virginia Alice Welch, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at her home. She was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Wathena, Kansas, daughter of the late Nora and Walter Weber. She worked at Whitaker Cable, and retired from K&N Engineering, in California, as a supervisor.
Virginia loved music, playing guitar, singing and dancing, going to the casino, she also loved the South Side Fall Festival. She was a member of former Hyde Valley United Methodist Church and Abundant Faith Church of God.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Welch; her parents; brother, Edward Weber; sisters, Pearl Rotterman, Mary Rotterman, Esther Engemann, and Betty Sigrist; and sons-in-law, Vince Studer, Kevin Walsh, and Kerry Klein.
She is survived by daughters, Rhonda Studer, Wathena, Brenda Walsh, Patsy Klein, both of St. Joseph, and bonus daughter, Sondra (Richard) Aranda, Murietta, California; sons, Randy Thornton, St. Joseph, and Michael (Rose) Welch, Eagle River, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Funeral Services 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, the Interment will be at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
