BARNARD, Mo. – Norma L. “Tillie” Snyder, 91, of Barnard, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.

Tillie was born on July 25, 1932, in Skidmore, Missouri, to Frank and Minnie (Hitchcock) Messner. She was a lifelong northwest Missouri resident.

She attended school in Graham, Missouri, and on June 19, 1949, Tillie was united in marriage to Billy Snyder. They were married for 55 years before he passed away in 2004.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her in-laws, her brother Bud, and two sisters, Doris and Max.

She was a homemaker, and had also waitressed in several local cafes, and had sold Avon for years.

Tillie had a lifelong love of horses. She kept them and rode frequently in her younger years. She liked bluegrass music and attending bluegrass festivals, and she especially loved her little dog “Punkin”.

She leaves behind her children, Dennis (Jane) Snyder, St. Joseph, daughter, Debbie Snyder, Barnard; her brother, Rog (Rhonda) Messner, Graham; and her grandson, Mark Snyder (Ryann Owens), St. Joseph; also several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at the First Christian Church, Barnard. The burial will follow in the Barnard Masonic Cemetery, also of Barnard.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
