Theodore “Ted” Hughes Sr., 65, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, in St. Joseph. He was born May 3, 1958, in St. Joseph, son of Elizabeth (Cooper) and Richard Ginn.

Thedore attended Lafayette High School. On March 27, 1993, he married Lisa Dysart, in Moberly, Missouri. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, listening to music and loved his house plants.

Theodore was preceded in death by daughter, Lakeshia Hughes; his mother, Elizabeth Hughes; father, Richard Ginn; brothers, Robert and Richard; sisters, Jenny, Darethia, Betty, Karen, Peaches, Dycie, Mary and Alice.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hughes, of the home; children, Airreanna, Doneshia, Shamika, Micha, Devontra, Dontane, Darrion, Nathaniel, Isaac, Theodore “Ted” Jr.; sisters, Brenda Wesley, Nancy Hughes, Gloria Cooper, Carolyn Hughes, Gaylen Green, Regina Ginn, Retha Ginn and Rosemary; brother, Johnny Hughes; 20 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hughes has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, where family will received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday.
