Juanita J. Haskins, 97, of St. Joseph, died Jan. 23, 2024, at a local nursing home. Juanita was born Jan. 19, 1927, in St. Joseph, to Leo H. and Katherine (Cole) Cochran.
She taught at Webster school, retiring in 1988.
Juanita married Bill G. Haskins on April 17, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2021. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Leo, David, and Roger Cochran; and son-in-law, Elmer Mayse.
Survivors include children, Kathy (Dennis) Schildknecht, of Hollister, Missouri, Jo Mayse, of Country Club, Missouri, Randy Haskins (Susan) of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, N.W. Missouri Genealogical Society and the Pony Express Square Dancers. Juanita enjoyed knitting, traveling, square dancing, and genealogy.
Memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
Services will be Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon prior to the service on Saturday. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
