David Lynn Jenson, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away Jan. 19, 2024, at Benedictine Living Community.

Dave was born in Ringsted, Iowa, to Lester and Virginia (Frederickson) on May 31, 1933. Rural life included hunting, trapping, fishing, Golden Glove Boxing, and a farmhouse with no electricity or plumbing. He was confirmed at the Blakjer Lutheran Church his family and other Norwegian homesteaders founded and supported.

Dave graduated as the Louisburg School salutatorian in 1951 and enlisted in the Air Force in 1952. On Aug. 23, 1958, he married Carol Erwin and graduated with a bachelor of science in business from SMS in 1959. His career with American Family Insurance promoted him from Kansas City, Springfield, St. Louis and St. Joseph until he retired as Regional Claims Manager in 1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, who passed May 10, 2019; son, Todd Jenson; and brother, Sherwood Jenson.

Dave is survived by: children Holly (Jay) Flinn, Joy Heastan; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Jenson; and sisters, Barbara Hennager and Judy Wright.

There will be no service or visitation at this time, so flowers and donations are not necessary. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
