Juell K. Chance, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at a local health care facility. She was born June 13, 1934, in Souix City, Iowa, daughter of Ruby “Mabel” (Hays) and John Hammond. She attended Lafayette High School and in 1987 she graduated from Missouri Western State College with a BS in Psychology. Juell spent many years working in Outside Sales. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, doing artwork and crafting. She took great joy in knitting hats for all of her grandchildren.

Juell was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Arthur Young; first husband, Donald Sollars; second husband, Frederick Chance; and son, Theodore Chance.

Survivors include children, Donald (Sherry) Chance, of St. Joseph, Cynthia (James) Archer, of Little Elm, Texas, Michael (Linda) Sollars, of The Woodlands, Texas, Geoffrey (Priscilla) Sollars, of St. Joseph, Eric (Christine) Sollars, of St. Joseph, Jennifer Lovelady, of St. Joseph, Victor Chance, of St. Joseph, Brian (Joyce) Chance, of St. Joseph, Christopher (Anna) Chance, of St. Joseph, and Katrina (Richard) Watkins, of St. Joseph; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will take place at Ashland Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
