HIGHLAND, Kan. – Evelyn M. (Peuker) Twombly, 92, resident of Two Timbers, Highland, Kansas, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the Amberwell Hospital, in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Evelyn was born on Dec. 27, 1931, in Wathena, Kansas, to Otto and Thelma (Younglove) Peuker.

She was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Fanning, Kansas. She was a farmer’s wife, spending her lifetime farming with her husband in the Wolf River Township.

Evelyn married James W. Twombly on Dec. 16, 1948, in Sparks, Kansas. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Thomas “Sam” Williams.

Survivors: son, J.W. (James Wayne) Twombly; grandchildren, Dennis Lentz, Wesley Twombly (Lisa) and Jerry Twombly (Pam); and great-granddaughters, Kora and Kaley Twombly; sister, Leola Williams; daughter-in-law, Kathleen R. Twombly; niece, Elaine Oldridge (Jim); and nephew, Tom Williams (Connie).

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at the Community of Christ Church, Fanning, Kansas.

Visitation: 9 a.m. Friday morning at the church prior to service time. Harman Rohde Funeral Home, in Wathena, in charge of arrangements. Burial: Highland Cemetery, Highland.

Memorials: Community of Christ Church or the Tom Williams Accident Fund.
