Shirley Ann (Banks) Shellenberger, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at the KU Medical Center.

Shirley was born on Feb. 8, 1946, in St. Joseph, to Carl Jr. and Mary (Hiskey) Banks.

She was a homemaker and cooked for St. James Schools and Vintage Park.

Shirley married Robert “Bob” Shellenberger on July 6, 1963, in Wathena, Kansas. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Carol Silvey and Rosie Schiltz.

Survivors: children, Kelley Wertin (Mike), Dekalb, Missouri, Brian Shellenberger (Edna), Mascoutah, Illinois, Mike Shellenberger (Stacie), St. Joseph, Rachel Shellenberger (Jenny), St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jared Wertin (Sarah), Emily Wertin, Ashley Shellenberger (Tim), Chelsea Culbertson (Nathan), Trevor Shellenberger (Shyanna), Audra Shellenberger (Jose), Brandi Shellenberger, and Adam Shellenberger; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial: Bellemont Cemetery, Wathena.
